Having a hearse with
a limousine-style window, you notice something special. Whether it was
for a fallen officer or a veteran, because the public could see inside the
hearse, the public really responded. On a recent trip for a fallen
officer, even though the ceremony was a cremation service, there was an urn
carrier, honorary urn bearers, an Eagle Echelon Hearse and a very long
funeral procession for which the public lined the streets. On another
trip for a veteran in an American flag draped casket, people stopped doing
their lawn chores and placed their hands over their hearts. A father
and son stopped riding their bikes and the father pointed to the hearse to
explain to his son what was happening. They may not have known the
officer or the veteran, but they understood that this was someone who served
their community and their country and these people deserve our final
respects. |
